D1 - CHN - KAT

The D - day arrived. I was all set to embark on a 14-day trip to the EBC.

This was my first long trip without my family since many years. I was filled with excitement and nervousness, everything seemed surreal.

My day began @ 4:20 am. A good shower followed by regular prayers and bid  goodbye to all at home.Expected my boys to be up to wish me but boys will remain boooyssss... I joined Bhooma in the cab to the airport. Couldn't do a web check-in as it was late. After the regular check-in we were joined by my fellow trekkers. Varalaaru mukiyam - time for photoshoot ;)

Headed to the boarding gate.Indigo airport shuttle took us to the PBB.A pleasant flight with a delayed food service - Veg Trio sandwich with 2 cheese pieces, apricots and few chunks of bread pieces temporarily subsided my hunger pangs. We reached Delhi on time. Our kudi makkals wanted to shop @ the duty free. Happy that I could do some social service on  being a teetotaler(offered my passport for the purchase)πŸ˜›. We got delayed shopping and had to rush to grab a bite @Delhi Street. Like rabbits,we scurried towards the boarding gate for Katmandu expecting our names to be called , but it turned out to be a long wait for the delayed flight. Finally, the flight took off @ 2:30 pm soaring into the deep blue skies, later over the mountains a beautiful sight to behold as we reached Kat.

The Katmandu airport welcomed us with clear , bright skies and wished it would remain the same throughout our trip. The GGO team welcomed us with beautiful marigold garlands.Least, did we realise that things were going to turnaround from then on.πŸ™†

Tummy bells signal towards T3 Thakali -The Daal Bhaat power began from here.πŸ’ͺ

Off to Maya Manor ,a beautifully curated place with lotta antique pieces and old photographs adored the walls. Retired for the day into our rooms and planned to meet for dinner at 7:30pm. Repacked our luggages into duffel bags that were provided to all of us.Weight restrictions of 15kgs forced us leave a few things back at Kat , to be collected on return. Many of the smarty-pants in the team had a special package of food items in the cargo. I was unaware of all the techniques and of course about  the variety of food items that people carried for a trek. Learnings began. Settled with Aloo paratha,Veg pulao and Salt Lassi for dinner.Been a long day! Good night!
