Made In China Sounds familiar ? Ought to be! As a mother of 2yr old twins, am compelled by my own conscience to buy new toys every other month. So whats there in it ? Every parent of this new age does it.Its not about buying toys that concerns me,but the origin of it. I see that almost 95% of the toys, carry a "Made In China" tag. Be it a small car, soft toy or my computer mouse/keyboard, every 2nd item in my house is China made.Gifts from my relatives abroad, is mostly China/Taiwan/Japan made. Ain't it strange? This made me do some research work on Indian -Chinese Import-Exports.Google is our handy manny :-) (Handy Manny is a cartoon on Disney Channel). Google search on "Made in China" showed me so many websites with an entire range of their products. You could set up a new home, a toy store, electronic goodies and what not.I was even tempted to start a small business. On the reverse, "Made In India" search fetched me the famous pop song by Alisha C...

A tribute to my Pattis
I enjoyed the privilege of living with 2 pattis (my mom's mom and my dad's mom) until recently. Last year Chellama patti (Dad's mom) passed away and Vedavalli( Mom's mom) a few years before. It would be unfair, if I forget to mention my munadi aathu patti(Janakammal -my front house patti ,who lived in Ambattur). Each of them were strikingly different in their own ways, yet bringing up their family was the first intention for all. Chellama patti hailed from a wealthy,big(13 siblings) and orthodox family. She had lost her husband at an young age. Raising 7 kids without any help is an arduous task( time doesn't matter),be it 5 decades ago or at present.N.K.R Mama(Chellamal's elder brother), was the backbone of the entire family.Until today, the amount of respect that my parents, uncles and aunt show towards him is really exemplary. Chellamal's love for her Anna(N.K.R) is remarkable as she breathed her last in his place. Chellama patti was an voracious r...
As I pen down this, Im at my office relaxed after a very long time. I was asking my hubby to take me to a deserted place where we could enjoy the power of nature away from all the hussle - bussle of monotonous city life. It was a really exiting when Anand told about the Jungle Lodges and their Island at Devbagh. Both of us finalised upon this and booked for 24 and 25 of March 2007. The D-day arrived and we got geared up for all the adventure and fun.Rushed home from office to board our Bus to Karwar. It was a long journey almost 11hrs from bangalore to Karwar.Anand had a deep slumber in the bus.I was awake all night watching the bus driver drive the bus on the dusty roads admist the sparkling headlights of those heavy and deadly trucks.Yeah! we reached Karwar at 7.00am found it to be big port handling huge traffic of goods. The place was calm. We took an auto to the Jungle Lodge office and found that the office was nothing more than a house in a dilapidated condition. On enquiring in the...
