Made In China  Sounds familiar ? Ought to be!  As a mother of 2yr old twins, am compelled by my own conscience to buy new toys every other month. So whats there in it ? Every parent of this new age does it.Its not about buying toys that concerns me,but the origin of it. I see that almost 95% of the toys, carry a "Made In China" tag. Be it a small car, soft toy or my computer mouse/keyboard, every 2nd item in my house is China made.Gifts from my relatives abroad, is mostly China/Taiwan/Japan made. Ain't it strange? This made me do some research work on Indian -Chinese Import-Exports.Google is our handy manny :-) (Handy Manny is a cartoon on Disney Channel). Google search on "Made in China" showed me so many websites with an entire range of their products. You could set up a new home, a toy store, electronic goodies and what not.I was even tempted to start a small business. On the reverse, "Made In India" search fetched me the famous pop song by Alisha C...

Birthdays.. Vakul and Vallabh recently celebrated their 2nd birthday. It was party time for kids.It was a small celebration with my apartment friends and kids as invitees.Decorations were as usual, balloons, ribbons and lights.Cake, samosas, chips, juice, lollipops, mini jamuns were the delicacies. Generally, kids enjoy the fun and party. It has become a routine for them. They attend more parties, than I have in my 26 yrs.Birthday parties almost all round the year.In an apartment of 80 flats, there are nearly 30-35 kids. All friends with each other, despite dooos & kaaas.Kids are accustomed to taking gifts and return gifts. There were a group of boys discussing about birthday parties and gifts. There was a kid saying "I have this(gift) already".This struck a chord in my mind.I was a bit disturbed. The first question that arose in my mind was "are we raising responsible kids?" .I feel, our kids have abundance of anything and everything. We don't shun any of the...

The Secret - Rhonda Byrne This is the first time, am a writing review about a book "The Secret by Rhonda Byrne"  http://www.thesecret.tv/  . One of my friends suggested reading this book.So whats great about The Secret. Its an inspirational,self-motivating book. The book helps you transform your 'thoughts into things'. Yes, our thoughts are the back bone of our life. You think good, good comes back to you, You think bad, bad returns to you. Our life is determined by the thoughts we have had in our mind, knowingly or unknowingly, in some point of time. Here are a few excerpts from the book as is. Law Of Attraction - "Like Attracts Like" Nothing comes into existence from the outside, and that everything first comes from thinking and feeling it on the inside. Your mind is the creative power of all things. The essence of this law of attraction is that you must think abundance, see abundance, feel abundance, believe abundance.Let no thought of limitation ente...
4 Yrs ago .... . We(Hubby, kids and in-laws family), recently(1st Nov 2010)were on a trip to Thiruvahindirapuram(Cuddalore dist,TN), my hubby'z native place to perform tonsuring on my kids. After nearly 3 yrs, I am revisiting the place. The entire journey rekindled my memories to 28th Oct 2006. So whats special with this day?? This day made me realize the importance of "every second in our life for a life".27th Nov 2006 was my wedding day.We still had loads of work to be complete before the wedding, the 1st being inviting the groom's family.Hardly 3 weeks to go and my fiance(Anand) kept us away from visiting his parents. All of us were getting very tensed. One fine morning, his mother called up my parents and told that my to-be Fil's health was in a bad condition. Then we decided to go to Pondicherry, where he was hospitalized. My parents, uncle and myself set out early next morning.I was all in a happy mood to meet my fiance.Driving on the ECR for the 2nd time afte...
Vakul & Vallabh @ 20 months 4 more months for their 2nd birthday. How naughty are they - Most mischievous than most of the kids I see. There are a lot of unanswered questions here. I think Swine flu is fond of active kids.Recently both were tested +ve for H1N1.I was taken aback when the doc told they have symptoms of H1N1.I was the lone person to handle the situation. No hubby,no parents,no m-i-l to spare their hands. All were out of station. My mind was racing. What should be my next step.Stay calm, muster courage to face the reality.Call hubby and inform, call brother for help.Brother's phone -no response.Next, i had to take both of them to Rajiv Gandhi Institute Of Chest Diseases to get the test done.Aunty (my baby-sitter) and I, with each child in one hand,a few bananas, biscuits and water bottle, set out to Rajiv Gandhi.I felt the atmosphere too eerie.Everybody with masks around their nose made me dizzy. Not bad - was my next impression on the Govt hospital as it dint take much t...
Independence Day - August 15th 2010 Mahaveer Coral celebrated Independence Day in a grand manner. As a part of the organizing committee, we planned a few programs. There are a lot of kids in our apartment and so we decided to have some competitions, dance and songs.Conducted coloring contest for kids between 2-5 yrs.Drawing contest for > 5 yrs of age.All kids enthusiastically participated. The theme for drawing was 'National Integration','A Rainy Day' and 'Beach Side'. All kids chose 'Rainy Day'.I think its easy to draw a few rain drops and umbrella.I too wanted to sit besides and draw and I knew I could definitely not compete with these talented kids.Aakansha drew a boy enjoying under the rain, playing with paper-boats and which obviously got the 1st place.Ganesh's concept was too good.Water gushing beneath a bridge and fishes and aquatic animals swimming in it.There were a lot of copy-cats for this. Then came the Lemon-n-Spoon race for pre-schoole...

Chip-Chip - The Sparrow!! Hurrray!!!! After a long wait for a month & half,chip-chip have started visiting my place.Being inspired by Dilawar(The sparrow man, founder of Nature Forever Society),we have bought a nest box & feeder.I had installed it almost 2 months ago.But no sparrows appeared until 2days back(My husband's bday). Both of were so happy to see them perched on the nest box.It was a good gift 4 my hubby.I was ecstatic to see my kids running enthusiastically to see the birds as soon as they wake up in the morning from the next day. Their chirpy calls announce my day break. My day starts with watching these small cuties.A male & a female have started building their nest. The male has a gray crown, whitish check, and black throat. The bill and breast are black in summer and in winter the bill is yellow and the breast is gray. The female has a brown crown and a plain breast with a broad buff line over the eye. I think they have laid a few eggs as well. Everyday thes...
