A Day at Bheemeshwari
Back again to share my experience about my trip with Marketics friends.
Wondering about the place ????
Located in the southernmost part of Karnataka is the Chamrajnagar district.This place lies in the leeward side of Nilgiris. So,why has this place gained importance ? What's special?
Hmmm.. The Bheemeshwari river (?). As always all rivers have different names in different regions.The Kaveri flowing here takes the name of "Bheemeshwari" . A renowned place for fishing,the home for "Mahseer" , the largest tropical sporting fish known. It is also in the endangered list of species.
Simple background for the trip is that the toiling & night working of the IBM team has won us an offsite :)
The excited and enthusiastic junta of IBM team gathered at the office by 6.00 am(is'nt that gr8. We come late only on working days ;) ).
A gang of 30 members boarded the bus, geared up with breakfast, refreshments, football, rackets.....
Few people were picked up on the way while Kimi enjoyed driving his car.Its about 100km from Bangalore, 3-1/2 hrs drive. We left our office by 7.00am.
Got settled in the bus at ease.So whats next - "Bhoook lug raha hai" . We stopped the bus off the city around 8.45 to gobble some idly,vada,sambhar. Aishwarya and Rekha had made arrangements for the delicious breakfast.After a tea, all of us got back into the bus.Mother Nature blessed the rest of the day with a slight drizzle without
being a spoilsport.
All of us were rejuvenated after the breakfast. We started off the fun by ragging the new entrants in IBM.
Meena,Sangeetha,newly married Arijith,Ashwin & his wife with their cute kid Adithi.Sangeetha was in all blush while describing about her fiance.Meena treated our ears with a Tamil song. Arijith had a tough time choosing between the 2 most important things in life - WIFE or WORK.Ashwin - to be on the safer side told "My married life is happy" escaping his wife's wrath!!!!!! (just kidding).
After all the ragging was over , Ajay & Hema were all set to host the "Awards Time" show.Awards were bagged by Vinoth - The Night Watchman, Akhil - Circuit of IBM ,Manu, Amit ,Giri , Gautam for various other categories. Gautam & Malini were awarded the Mr.&Ms IBM titles. They were given very cute baby dolls. Akhil -the jumping guy of IBM was very humble in his speech after receving the award - " I thank myself, I thank myself & I thank my legs " ... I was touched by Gautam's "Iam touched .... ".
Hema & Ajay did a great job of making the show a very lively & fun-filled one.Kudos to them !!!!
We then played dumb-c for sometime. Making all possible gestures to help their teams figure out the movie name was entertaining.
Thinking why we still dint reach the place? Our bus driver had went past the Cauvery Fishing Camp.We had to travel back a few kms. Now some of us were singing songs while others were asleep.Finally we reached the place at around 12.45.
Some of us got ready to go for trekking while the others preferred to relax and play baddy and football.It was a short trek of approx 3kms up & down.We walked through the bushes to get some excellent view of the meandering course of the river.The cutest part of the trek was Adithi , whose was very eager to reach the top , saying "noooo" to the help offered. The sweet kid, walked all the way without asking her parents to carry.All of us reached the view point to get a view of the entire hills and the river.Re-vitalised by the fresh mountain air we walked back down the hill. Akhil,Amit&Ajay ,back to their school days running a 100m race to test their fitness level.
We reached the fishing camp and ate lunch. We playing in the water for sometime while Gautam was experimenting with the hammock tied nearby. He was figuring out a strategy to comfortably ly on it as he kept on falling. We were watching him fall over & over again & laughed at him. Finally everybody fell offf :(
To get a feel of our ancestors , we climbed onto the net tied across the trees some 8 ft above ground. All of us were jumping and rolling inside net.We were hanging like bats here n there as Giri,Harry ,Sanjay & Ajay were watching us standing at a safe distance.
"Time for boating guys!! " - Rakesh was gathering the mass. Most of them went for corracle ride in the crocky waters. Dhanesh, Ashwin & fmly & myself stayed aside. In the meantime, Dhanesh & I played a good game of baddy until both of us were drained. Ab Sabh log vapaz aaye, boating ke baad football khelne keliye.
It was good to see everybody involved in the game, screaming and patting their teammates after the goal.The rest were playing baddy, tenikcoit or just yapping.
There comes Giri ,our commander asking everybody to pack offf by 6.00.Reluctantly,we got ready to leave, winding up with all the games.Chalo !! katham ho gaya outing.
Watching the famous movie Sholay, I dozed off in the bus for sometime.Few got down on the way & some dined at the Woody's for dinner.
Alas , Aishwarya & myself reached my home @ 12 to dream about the day's happenings in our deep slumber.
Now waiting to explore the unexplored in my next trip!!!!!
