As I pen down this, Im at my office relaxed after a very long time.

I was asking my hubby to take me to a deserted place where we could enjoy the power of nature away from all the hussle - bussle of monotonous city life.

It was a really exiting when Anand told about the Jungle Lodges and their Island at Devbagh. Both of us finalised upon this and booked for 24 and 25 of March 2007.

The D-day arrived and we got geared up for all the adventure and fun.Rushed home from office to board our Bus to Karwar. It was a long journey almost 11hrs from bangalore to Karwar.Anand had a deep slumber in the bus.I was awake all night watching the bus driver drive the bus on the dusty roads admist the sparkling headlights of those heavy and deadly trucks.Yeah! we reached Karwar at 7.00am found it to be big port handling huge traffic of goods. The place was calm. We took an auto to the Jungle Lodge office and found that the office was nothing more than a house in a dilapidated condition.

On enquiring in the neighbourhood we were asked to wait at the Udipi Cafe were we ate Poori - masal for breakfast. We spent nearly an hour & half at the cafe chit-chatting.There was a jeep which picked us up from there and transported to the jetty. We were ferried to the other side of the beach in a motor boat. It was only a few minutes ride across the water to reach the Devbagh Isle.

As,the name(Devbagh - God's paradise/garden) suggests the place was very serene surrounded by trees and mangroves. The place was so calm with only the sound of waves breaking the silence. We walked almost a km to reach the LOG Hut which we had opted for.

The Log hut was a very romantic place to stay.Low lit lights, thatched roof, beautiful curtons that decorate the window......

We had a quick shower and went for a long stroll in the beach. We walked to the place were the river and sea joins(estuary).I collected some of the beautiful shells along the coast.

Here comes all the adventure!! After the walk we wanted to go for parasailing. We were joined by a sweet couple Guru&Sanghvi and Rahul and his mom. Chalo !! The weather conditions were perfect for parasailing. Again all of us were taken to another island.

We wore life-jackets.Neither my hubby nor I knew swimming. So reached place after 5 min of ride. The boat man asked us to get down in from boat a few meters ahead of the shore. The water level was above my head.I panicked and somehow managed to reach the shore.

I admired Rahul's mom's sportiveness.A lady of 53 ,swam till the shore. My god !! That was great. She was powerful and enthusiatic than the most of us there.

Get,Set,Go !!!!!!! Wishing that everything should go on well , Rahul was the first person to enjoy the parasailing. Then was Anand.I was eagerly awaiting his return with my eyes hooked onto him.

Haha!! Now me !!

Wow!! It was awesome to have a view the entire surroundings from a height of 80 feet.It seemed as thought the world was mine.I mustered courage to look down at times. It was all over within a few minutes and i landed on the water. Not a bad landing afterall.I wished I stayed on air for long. Then went Guru.

All-together it was a wonderful experience. Now we had to swim back to the boat. The tides were very high.It was very difficult to get across.I choked and the organisers there helped a lot.We holded the rope that was tied to the boat and got into the boat.

Back to the log-hut and then lunch-time. Good buffet and as usual ...a short nap follows.

We woke up at 4.00pm and again went for a walk in the beach.Watched the sun disappear behind the horizon.Got ready for the barbeque, campfire and dinner. There was another gang of 15.It was full of fun and frolic.Guru,Sanghavi,Anand & I were together for the dinner. We kept chatting and got to know each other better.zzzzzzzzzz......... gud nite for now !!!!

The owl's hoot and other chirping birds woke us.Got ready for a nature walk in the mangroves. But as nobody turned up Anand and I accompanied by an aunty walked along the shore. We were getting ready for the banana boat ride and Jogi and Sathish gave us company now.It was time for Guru & Sanghavi to Check out.Waving them a bye, we sat on the banana boat which was tied to the motor boat.We were taken some few meters away from shore in great speed and made to topple over from the banana boat. For a few minutes all of us were in the middle of sea floating.A thrilling experience.

We had an extremely delightful experience.Time for us to leave!!!!! Location transferred from Devbagh to Karwar (Rabindranath Tagore beach). We had lots of time to board the bus back home.So as per Jogi's idea we spent some time in the Tagore beach in Karwar.A very neat, calm beach on the way to Karwar bus stand. Now time to get transported back to the land of s/w companies ,bugging client calls and computer ...computer ...computer

Back to work again. The routine starts............. !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hats off to Anand who made arrangements for this pleasureable break!!! draft by liveurlife 11:08:00 AM Delete
